Driving Instructor Code of Conduct

Driving Instructor Code of Conduct

This Code of Conduct outlines the standards for professionalism, safety, and ethical behavior that all instructors in our driving school are expected to uphold.

1. Professionalism

  • Punctuality: Arrive on time for each lesson. If you anticipate being more than 15 minutes late, inform the student as soon as possible.
  • Respectful Communication: Communicate respectfully with students, parents, guardians, and colleagues. Avoid inappropriate language or gestures.
  • Unfulfilled Bookings: If a booking cannot be completed due to an accident, vehicle breakdown, or illness, promptly contact all affected learners, explain the reason, and offer options for rescheduling. Inform The Learner about the situation as soon as possible through the licence messaging system.
  • Claiming Payments: Instructors must not claim payment through The Licence until the lesson has been completed. Payment should only be claimed after the actual completion of a booking.
  • Representation: Instructors should not present themselves as representatives, employees, or agents of "The Licence."
  • Third-Party Passengers: Instructors must not allow any third party in the vehicle during lessons unless the learner consents or local law requires it like Auditor.
  • Learner Pick-Up: Instructors must not pick up a learner for subsequent bookings without explicit consent from the learner.

2. Safety

  • Vehicle Condition: It is the instructor's sole responsibility to maintain the vehicle in a clean, safe, and roadworthy condition, meeting all safety standards as required by local authorities.
  • Focus on Safety: Prioritize safety by teaching students safe driving practices and remaining vigilant at all times.
  • No Distractions: Avoid distractions, including mobile phone use, smoking, eating, or drinking, during lessons, except in emergencies.

3. Instructional Integrity

  • Clear Instructions: Provide clear, constructive, and patient guidance to students.
  • Equal Opportunity: Treat all students fairly, regardless of their background, ability, or learning style.
  • Honest Assessment: Offer honest feedback on students' progress and readiness for tests.

4. Confidentiality

  • Student Privacy: Respect students' privacy and keep all personal information confidential.
  • No Sharing of Information: Do not discuss a student’s performance with anyone other than the student, their parent or guardian (if applicable), or authorized personnel.
  • Agency Representatives: With the learner’s consent, progress may be shared with an agency representative, ensuring that all feedback is accurate and honest.

5. Legal and Ethical Standards
